Velocity — the ability to engage the right speed, pace, endurance, and reaction time for a specific movement.
Speed is a key component to achieving maximum performance output. Choosing the right speed during a movement/action is a key factor. Accelerating or even decelerating pace is the foundation for a well-performed biomechanical movement.
“Velocity generates momentum.”
Speed of Information Processing
A key aspect of the 3Y’s principle of velocity. It can be improved through specific exercises that challenge and enhance the learner’s ability to quickly process incoming information.
Examples include:
-
Solving a Rubik’s cube against a timer, followed by a high-intensity physical drill
-
Alternating between fast-paced physical performance and meditation sessions
-
Accelerating and decelerating drills performed on the Y Bases
These are Y-System-style training combinations to accustom the individual to continuous changes in velocity, frequency, and intensity for better body and mind control.
Interestingly, some scientists consider speed of information processing a crucial element of intelligence quotient (IQ).
